SUBJECT: Probation Department Salary Resolution Amendment
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve amendment to the Salary Resolution deleting the Assistant Chief Probation Officer position in the Probation Department Org 3430, effective July 30, 2018, as reflected in Appendix C.
REPORT
The Probation Department is deleting the Assistant Chief Probation Officer classification, which is in partial combination with the Probation Division Director positions resulting in no change to the total number of allocated positions.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If your Board were not to approve the recommended action, the Probation Department’s positions will remain unchanged.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action.
DISCUSSION:
The current Chief Probation Officer was appointed effective April 23, 2018. Upon review of the existing administrative structure of the Probation Department, it was determined that having the Division Directors report directly to the Chief Probation Officer would better meet the needs of the Department.
The Department is proposing the deletion of the Assistant Chief Probation Officer classification effective July 30, 2018. This position is currently filled and the July 30th effective date will allow the required personnel procedures to be completed timely in accordance with applicable Personnel Rules. Although the Assistant Chief Probation Officer classification is being deleted, the total number of allocated positions remains unchanged including two vacant Probation Division Director positions, which are currently in partial combination with the Assistant Chief Probation Officer.
