SUBJECT: Budget Transfer for Purchase of a Mail Room X-ray Machine
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Clerk of the Board to execute Budget Transfer No.2 ($30,000) transferring appropriations within the Sheriff-Coroner Org 3111, from Account 7385 (Small Tools & Instruments) to Account 8300 (Equipment) for the purchase of a mail room X-ray machine.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The Sheriff-Coroner's Office will use services and supplies savings in the department's current year budget to purchase a replacement mail room X-ray machine. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If your Board does not approve the recommended action, the Sheriff-Coroner's Office will not be able to purchase a mail room X-ray machine. The current X-ray machine is not working and has been non-functional for more than six months.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action, as services and supplies savings in the Sheriff-Coroner FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget Org 3111 will fund the cost of the mail room X-ray machine. The approval of the recommended action will facilitate the transfer of $30,000 between Account 7385 and Account 8300 within the Sheriff-Coroner Org 3111 to purchase a mail room X-ray machine. Maintenance costs are included in the Sheriff-Coroner FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget Org 3111 and will be included in future requested budgets.
DISCUSSION:
The Fresno County Adult Detention Facilities (Jail) use an X-ray machine to scan incoming mail for narcotics. It is also used to scan shoes and clothing that are brought in from the general public to inmates.
