SUBJECT: Amendment to Legal Services Agreement with Hanson Bridgett LLP

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize Chairman to execute a First Amendment to Purchasing Agreement No. P-18-263-O with the Hanson Bridgett law firm for specialized legal services, effective upon execution, extending the term to December 31, 2020 and increasing the maximum by $200,000 to a total of $250,000.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow County Counsel to work with the Hanson Bridgett law firm to obtain expert legal advice as it pertains to the County's review of access to facilities and programs and services and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The recommended action will extend the term of the agreement one year and nine months increasing the maximum by $200,000 not to exceed $250,000. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Should your Board not approve the recommended action, the County will not have a Board agreement with outside Counsel for expert legal advice as it pertains to the review of access to facilities and programs and services.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Costs are estimated not to exceed $250,000 for the term of this agreement. Sufficient appropriations are included within the FY 2018-19 Interest and Miscellaneous Expenditures Org 2540 Adopted Budget and will be included in future budget requests.

DISCUSSION:

The County is in need of an outside consultant's legal expertise for the review of access to County facilities and programs and services. Approval of the recommended action will allow the County to work with the law firm of Hanson Bridgett to obtain their legal expertise.
