SUBJECT: Appointment of Jeff Yribarren to the Reclamation District No. 1606 board in accordance with Water Code Section 50741
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve the appointment of Jeff Yribarren to the Reclamation District No. 1606 Board to the term expiring December 2, 2022.
REPORT
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If an appointment is not made, the seat will remain vacant until an appointment is made by your board or until the term expires on December 2, 2022.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in net County cost associated with this action.
DISCUSSION:
Reclamation District No. 1606 had a General Election scheduled for November 7, 2017, for two (2) expiring terms on their Board of Trustees. Notice was properly published and, unfortunately, one candidate filed leaving a vacancy. While it has taken some time, the Board of Trustees has found an individual that meets the qualifications of the office and is willing to fill the seat vacated by former Trustee, Jerome F. Salvador.
At their Special Meeting on January 29, 2019, the Board of Trustee, recommended Mr. Jeff Yribarren be appointed to fill this vacancy and respectfully requests the Board of Supervisors approve his appointment to the Board of Trustees for the 4-year term expiring December 2, 2022. Attached is the Designation of Legal Representative to Serve on the Board of Trustees of Reclamation District No. 1606 (Attachment A).
Pursuant to Water Code Section 50741 (and 50732), notice must be published once no later than one month prior to the Board of Supervisors making the Appointment. The District has published such notice (Attachment B).
