RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Amendment I to Agreement No. 17-018 with California Department of Public Health, for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Prevention Programs, with no change in the term to June 30, 2019 and increasing the maximum by $75,111 to a total of $228,777.

REPORT

Approval of the recommended action will provide additional funding from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control Branch to enhance STD prevention services through a media campaign targeting teens and youth, with no Net County Cost. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Should your Board not approve the recommended action, the Department of Public Health would be unable to enhance STD prevention services.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action.  The recommended action will increase funding by $75,111 or 49%; from $153,666 to $228,777.  Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department’s Org 5620 FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget.

DISCUSSION:

On January 31, 2017, the Board approved Agreement No. 17-018 with CDPH for one-time funding to support the Department’s response to the syphilis epidemic.

The recommended amendment will provide additional funding to enhance outreach activities through an educational media campaign regarding STDs.  All other terms remain unchanged.
