SUBJECT: Award Contract No. 19-07-C, 2018-2019 County and SB-1 Asphalt Concrete Overlays
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt plans and specifications for Contract No. 19-07-C, 2018-2019 County and SB-1 Asphalt Concrete Overlays at various locations in Fresno County, receive verbal report on the bid opening and award to the bidder with the lowest responsive bid.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will authorize the award of a budgeted countywide road improvement project (Project), comprised of eleven locations, with at least one location in each supervisorial district. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended action is not approved, the Project will be delayed or will not be constructed.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The anticipated contract construction cost for the base bid and additive bids is estimated to range between $7,728,000 to $8,542,000. Portions of the Project will be paid with funding from Senate Bill 1 (SB-1): Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA). Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department of Public Works and Planning's - Road Org 4510 FY 2019-20 Recommended Budget. The Project includes work on certain roads not included in the County's system of maintained roadways, which work will be paid for by the respective County Service Areas responsible for such roads.
DISCUSSION:
The work to be done consists, in general, of furnishing and placing hot mix asphalt (HMA) type A overlay on various existing roads in the County. The base bid will require the placement of HMA overlay over approximately 11.54 miles of roadway. An additional 5.85 miles of roads are included as additive bids.
