RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt plans and specifications for Contract No. 19-04-C, 2018-2019 Concrete Improvement Project, Various Locations in Fresno County, and award the construction contract to the lowest bidder, Witbro Incorporated, dba Seal Rite Paving and Grading, 4237 W. Swift Ave, Fresno CA 93722, in the amount of $247,648.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will authorize the award of a budgeted County-funded concrete improvement project that includes 40 locations throughout the County. This item pertains to locations in Districts 2, 4 and 5.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved, the construction of the 2018-2019 Concrete Improvement Project (Project) will be delayed or cancelled.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The anticipated maximum construction cost, based on the low bid ($247,648) and including an allowance for contingencies ($24,764.80) is $272,412.80. The Project is funded by Road Fund 0010. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department of Public Works and Planning's Roads Org 4510 FY 2019-20 Recommended Budget.

DISCUSSION:

The Project consists, in general, of removing and reconstructing existing concrete curbs and gutters, valley gutters, portions of concrete driveways and walkways, and asphalt pavement at 40 locations throughout the County. Root barriers will also be installed in specific locations to minimize future damage on the improvements caused by tree roots.
