SUBMITTED BY:                     Lilia Gonzales Chavez, Executive Director, Fresno Arts Council

SUBJECT:                     Resolution Designating Fresno Arts Council as a Local Partner

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Adopt Resolution designating the Fresno Arts Council to serve as the County of Fresno’s  local partner with the California Arts Council for FY 2020-21.

REPORT

Approval of the recommended action will adopt a resolution designating the Fresno Arts Council (FAC) to serve as the County’s local partner with the California Arts Council for FY 2020-21, which will enable the FAC to submit a new CAC grant application for FY 2020-21 State and Local Partnership Program (SLPP) funding.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the resolution is not adopted, the FAC would not be able to apply for SLPP funding through the California Arts Council (CAC). A resolution that demonstrates support of the FAC by the County is required by CAC, and has been requested by FAC.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The recommended action has no fiscal impact on the County of Fresno. Any grant funds would be distributed directly to the FAC to offset its program expenditures.

DISCUSSION:

Throughout the years, your Board has been asked to approve the FAC’s applications for State grant monies, and has approved these requests.  Your Board’s adoption of the proposed resolution designates the FAC to serve as the County’s local partner with CAC, and will allow the FAC to submit a new CAC grant application for FY 2020-21 SLPP funding.  This funding is critical to the sustainability of the FAC.  Similar resolutions may be presented to your Board each year based on the FAC’s request.
