DATE: November 2, 2021
TO: Board of Supervisors
SUBMITTED BY: Hollis Magill, Director of Human Resources
SUBJECT: Salary Resolution Amendment, Agricultural Technician, Seasonal
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve Salary Resolution Amendment adjusting the salary of the Agricultural Technician - Seasonal classification in accordance with Footnote 4 of the Salary Resolution, as reflected on Appendix “A”, effective November 1, 2021.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended actions would adjust the salary of the Agricultural Technician - Seasonal to match the Step 1 salary of the Agricultural Technician - Provisional. This item impacts the Department of Agriculture and has countywide implications.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
The recommended action is required by Footnote 4 of the Salary Resolution; therefore, no viable alternative options are available.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total estimated cost of the salary adjustment for FY 2021-22 is $2,800, of which $2,100 is Net County Cost. The Agriculture Department’s FY 2021-22 Adopted Budget Org 4010 contains sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues to absorb these costs.
DISCUSSION:
The Agricultural Technician - Seasonal is an Extra Help classification that has no Permanent status counterpart and therefore is not impacted by salary changes made to either represented or unrepresented employee groups. To ensure that the classification still receives salary adjustments, it was added to Footnote 4 of the Salary Resolution and tied in salary to the Agricultural Technician - Provisional, which is in the Unrepresented (UNR) employee group. The Agricultural Technician - Provisional was last adjusted effective September 20, 2021.
