SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting and Expressing Gratitude for Donation of an
Ambulance to the Sheriff-Coroner's Office from American Ambulance of
Fresno County

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the donation of an ambulance from American Ambulance Incorporated to the County of Fresno Sheriff-Coroner's Office.
REPORT
There is no increase in net County cost associated with the recommended action. This equipment (ambulance) has a value of $17,000 and will be utilized by Mobile Field Force deputies from the Sheriff's Office to store and transport safety equipment during the course of their duties. The approval of the recommended action will allow the Sheriff-Coroner's Office to integrate this vehicle as part of their current Fleet.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the donation is not accepted, the Sheriff-Coroner's Office would need to purchase a pull trailer to store and transport the safety equipment.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in net County cost associated with the recommended action. Any maintenance costs associated with this donation will be absorbed through services and supplies savings in the Adopted FY 2015-16 Sheriff-Coroner Org 3111.

DISCUSSION:

The Sheriff-Coroner's Office recently formed a Mobile Field Force Unit. This unit is composed of deputies from the Multi Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) team, Ag Task Force team, Special Investigations Bureau, and Property Detectives. This is a collateral duty unit, meaning deputies would be called out from their primary job to assist in resolving special calls as determined by the Sheriff.

The unit is responsible for responding to and safely handling events such as civil unrest, planned protests, disaster(s) evacuation(s) and requests by the California Office of Emergency Services to assist other agencies as needed....
