SUBJECT: Agreement with the State of California Employment Development Department (EDD)

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute agreement with the State of California Employment Development Department to provide employment information for purpose of obtaining current employment data for felony victims, suspects, missing persons, potential witnesses, or persons for whom a felony arrest warrant has been issued from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2019 in the amount of $3,516.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Approval of the recommended action will allow the Sheriff-Coroner's Office to obtain employment data for both victims and suspects to be able to contact them at work during investigations.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There is no alternative action. If your Board does not approve the recommended action, the Sheriff-Coroner's Office will not be able to obtain employment data for felony victims, suspects, missing persons, potential witnesses, or persons for whom a felony arrest warrant has been issued.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Costs incurred as a result of utilizing these programs are not to exceed $3,516 for the three-year term from January 1, 2017 through December 31, 2019. Costs for FY 2016-17, estimated at $586, will be absorbed within the Sheriff-Coroner's Org 3111 adopted budget and will be included in future Sheriff-Coroner's 3111 requested budgets.

DISCUSSION:

Obtaining current employment information for felony victims, suspects, missing persons, potential witnesses, or persons for whom a felony arrest warrant has been issued is a necessary resource for Sheriff-Coroner investigations.
