RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2016-17 appropriations and estimated revenues for Org 7910, Parks and Grounds in the amount of $150,531 for facility improvements to Courthouse Park. (4/5 vote)
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will authorize the Department of Public Works and Planning, Resources Division to make improvements to Courthouse Park utilizing the proceeds from the easements granted to the City of Fresno and PG&E on November 15, 2016.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved, the proposed improvements will be deferred.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase to Net County Cost. Approval of recommended action will increase FY 2016-17 appropriations and estimated revenues in the Public Works and Planning, Resources Division - Parks and Grounds Org 7910 by $150,531 using easement proceeds to fund the Courthouse Park facility improvements.

DISCUSSION:

On November 15, 2016, your Board executed deed easements, a temporary construction easement and agreements for the purchase and sale, and other related documents to grant the easements on behalf of the County to the City of Fresno. The agreements specified the City of Fresno pay $131,100 to purchase eight permanent easements and $19,431 for the purchase of two temporary construction easements to be used by PG&E to reconstruct the existing bus shelters located within Courthouse Park.

County staff proposes to use $150,531 for facility improvements within Courthouse Park including the purchase and installation of six concrete picnic tables and concrete pads, repair of damaged sidewalks, replacement of 10 concrete benches, replacement of 14 bollards, replacement of trees and improvements to the irrigation system.
