SUBJECT: Fresno County Zoo Authority 2015-16 Annual Report

TITLE
Receive Fresno County Zoo Authority 2015-16 Annual Report.
REPORT
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the Recommended Action.
DISCUSSION:
The Fresno County Zoo Authority (Authority) tenth annual report covers the fiscal year July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016, and includes the annual audit by Brown Armstrong Accountancy Corporation received by the Authority at their December 14, 2016 meeting. As of June 30, 2016, $25,727,931 in Measure Z funds were held in trust for Fresno’s Chaffee Zoo Corporation (Zoo Corp), with $18,821,133 of the total reserved for capital projects, and $6,906,798 for operations.
In FY 2015-16, $14,022,222 in Measure Z taxes and interest were received, and the Authority reimbursed the Zoo Corp $11,379,297 for capital projects, including African Adventure construction and utility improvements. The Authority also reimbursed the Zoo Corp $4,481,272 for some operational expenses, including animal feed, utilities, and keeper and veterinary salaries.
