SUBJECT: Amended Revenue Award with the California Department of Public Health

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Amended Base Award with the California Department of Public Health for Tuberculosis Control Local Assistance Funds, effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017 ($303,361).
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will increase tuberculosis control funding from $279,572 to $303,361 ($23,789 or 8%) for FY 2016-17. The added funding will provide for increased laboratory services related tuberculosis (TB) control activities. The activities are funded with State and Federal funding and the indirect costs are covered with Health Realignment, with no Net County Cost.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION:

No viable options are available. Should your Board not approve the recommended action, the Department would be unable to enhance tuberculosis control program activities in the County.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended action will increase the TB Control Local Assistance Base Award from $279,572 to $303,361 ($23,789 or 8%) for FY 2016-17. Funding consists of State ($117,759) and Federal ($185,602) dollars. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department's Org 5620 FY 2016-17 adopted budget. The agreement includes full reimbursement of direct costs, but does not allow for indirect cost recovery. The current indirect cost of 15.873% ($48,153) will be covered by Health Realignment.

On August 23, 2016, your Board approved Agreement No. 16-533, the base award from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), for TB control funds in the amount of $279,572.
