SUBJECT: Resolutions accepting monetary donations to the Fresno County Public Library
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the monetary donation of $1,000 to the Fresno County Public Library to support the Talking Book Library for the Blind.
2. Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the monetary donation of $1,257 to the Fresno County Public Library to support library services at the Woodward Park Regional Library.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The recommended actions are required to satisfy the reporting requirements under Chapter 762.12 of the CAO Management Directives for donations greater than $500 in value. Approval of the first recommended action will allow the Fresno County Public Library to accept a $1,000 donation from a private donor to support the Talking Book Library for the Blind program. Approval of the second recommended action will allow the Fresno County Public Library to accept a $1,257 donation from a private donor to support library services at the Woodward Park Regional Library.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose to not accept the donations.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The donation of $1,000 will be accepted to purchase supplies for the Talking Book Library for the Blind program in future fiscal years using the available Fund Balance in Special Revenue Fund Org 7521. The donation of $1,000 will increase the Fund Balance under restricted donations in County Library Book Fund Org 7521. The donation of $1,257 will be accepted to support Woodward Park Regional Library services in future fiscal years using the available Fund Balance in Special Revenue Fund Org 7521. The donation of $1,257 will increase the Fund Balance under restricted donations in County Library Book Fund Org 7521.
DISCUSSION:
In December 2016, the Fresno County Public Library received donation checks in the amounts of $1,000 and $1,257 from private donors. The donation of $1,000 will be used to purchase supplies to support the Talking Book Library for the Blind program. The Talking Book Library for the Blind program provides services for persons with temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical disability. The donation of $1,257 will be used to support services at the Woodward Park Regional Library.
