RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute cooperative agreement with the Kings Canyon Unified School District for the construction of the Dunlap Elementary Crosswalk Lights and Sidewalk Project ($129,116).

2. Adopt plans and specifications for Contract No. 16-01-C, Dunlap Elementary Crosswalk Lights and Sidewalk, and authorize the Director of the Department of Public Works and Planning, or his designee, to advertise for bids and set bid opening date contingent upon the Department receiving authorization from the California Department of Transportation.
REPORT
Approval of the first recommended action will authorize the execution of a cooperative agreement pursuant to which the Kings Canyon Unified School District (District) will pay costs associated with the construction of a sidewalk on school property. Approval of the second recommended action will authorize the advertisement of a federally funded Active Transportation Program (ATP) project.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the first recommended action is not approved, the school district will not be able to contribute to the payment of costs associated with the project and the cost of the work on school property would have to be paid from the County's Road Fund. Not approving the second recommended action will result in cancellation of the project and de-obligation of the allocated federal funding. Any funds received by the County for this project to date would require reimbursement to the Federal Highway Administration from the Road Fund.

FISCAL IMPACT:
