SUBJECT: City of Mendota's Request for County Clerk Registrar of Voters to Conduct an All-Mail Ballot Special Municipal Election
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the County Clerk Registrar of Voters to conduct an All-Mail Ballot Special Municipal Election on August 29, 2017 for the City of Mendota.
REPORT
On May 23, 2017, the City of Mendota executed Resolution Nos. 17-31, 17-32, 17-34 and 17-35 calling for an All-Mail Ballot Special Municipal Election on August 29, 2017. This election will consist of two measures increasing the city's revenue to fund public safety. The City requests that the election be conducted by the Fresno County Clerk Registrar of Voters.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended action is not approved, it would be the responsibility of the City of Mendota to conduct its own election. Historically, the City of Mendota has submitted an executed resolution for each of their past municipal elections requesting that the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters conduct the election. The County Clerk/Registrar of Voters has provided those services and the City of Mendota, upon receipt of an invoice, has reimbursed the County for past elections costs.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost related to the recommended action. The City of Mendota has agreed, by resolution, to reimburse the County for all costs related to the conduct of the August 29, 2017 All-Mail Ballot Special Municipal Election. The estimated cost range is $30,000 to $40,000.
