DISCUSSION:
On June 16, 2017, staff brought an item to your Board seeking direction regarding Fresno County Priorities. Your Board directed staff to return with a new Fresno County priorities item to include some estimates of what projects may cost. Although costs cannot be established for all projects without a specific scope, some project costs have been identified.
Over the last several months, there have been several discussions regarding setting priorities to guide Fresno County through its decision-making process, in particular as it relates to available funding and/or identification of new funding. Various priorities and initiatives have been mentioned during these discussions including, but not limited to the areas of salaries and benefits, capital projects, information technology, policies and legal issues. The included table categorizes these areas and provides related funding and cost information where available. Below is a description of two of the initiatives that are listed in the priorities section of the list.
Also included for your discussion are items that were mentioned during the June 6, 2017 board meeting as potential additional considerations.
The Board could choose to revise these priorities, add priorities, and/or delete priorities based on a change in the Board’s position.
