SUBJECT: Resolution accepting a monetary donation for the Fresno County Public Library for a public purpose
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the monetary donation of $600 to the Fresno County Public Library to purchase a San Francisco Chronicle subscription.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended action is required to satisfy the reporting requirements under Chapter 762.12 of the CAO Management Directives for donations greater than $500 in value. Approval of the recommended action will allow the Fresno County Public Library to accept a $600 donation from a private donor to purchase a San Francisco Chronicle subscription during FY 2017-18.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose to not accept the donation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Upon approval, the donation will be accepted and the subscription will be purchased in FY 2017-18. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues will be included in the County Library Book Fund Org 7521 FY 2017-18 Recommended Budget.
DISCUSSION:
In April 2017, the Fresno County Public Library received a donation check in the amount of $600 from a private donor. The donation is to be used to pay for a print subscription to the San Francisco Chronicle for one library branch. This donation will pay for approximately eight months of the newspaper subscription. Eleven branches currently have a subscription to the San Francisco Chronicle. The donation may be used to pay for continuing one of these subscriptions, or for a new subscription at another branch.
