SUBJECT:                     Approval of Community Outreach Expenditure

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Approve community outreach expenditure per Administrative Policy No. 75.

REPORT

Approval of this item is for the retroactive expenditure of $1,000.00 to sponsor the District 3 Carnaval Community Resource Event. This item was approved by County Counsel as an appropriate expenditure as outlined in Administrative Policy No. 75.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

The Board could choose not to approve this expenditure even though it does follow the guidelines of Administrative Policy No. 75 approved by the Board of Supervisors.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in net county cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the proposed budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year under the Board of Supervisors Org 0110, Department 01100103.

DISCUSSION:

On August 8, 2017, the Board approved Administrative Policy No. 75 to allow individual Supervisors to expend portions of their individual budgets for community outreach services and programs. This expenditure to sponsor this community event was sent to the County Counsel for review and approval prior to the event. County Counsel deemed it an appropriate expenditure under the Administrative Policy No. 75 guidelines. County Counsel approved District 3 moving forward with the sponsorship of the event, which was held prior to the Board having an opportunity to meet to approve this expenditure. We now ask the Board to provide retroactive approval of this expenditure.

The event had participation from County of Fresno Departments, which provided information regarding services and resources to the public.
