SUBJECT: Report from Board Workshop and Revised Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve revised Vision, Mission, and Guiding Principles for Fresno County; and
2. Accept Report from Facilitator Jackie Ryle.
REPORT
In October 2017, your Board met to review the current vision and mission statements and guiding principles along with establishing goals. The recommended actions approve the revised statements and guiding principles and accept the facilitator's report.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended actions are not approved, the County's Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles would remain unchanged.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions.

DISCUSSION:

On October 19 and October 20, 2017, your Board held a public workshop to discuss the vision and mission statements and guiding principles of Fresno County, and to establish goals to best meet the needs of the County moving forward.

The workshop covered a range of discussion topics including, but not limited to, water, economic development, agricultural interests, and your Board's commitment to delivering the best possible services to County residents and businesses.

As a result of the workshop, your Board established revised vision and mission statements and guiding principles. Additionally, your Board formulated desired goals to be pursued in close partnership with city leaders, departments, and stakeholders in support of the revised vision and mission.

The revised vision and mission statements are as follows and as shown in Attachment A:

* Vision: Working together for a quality of life for all.

* Mission: To provide excellent public services to our diverse community.
