SUBJECT: Retroactive Agreement with Central Unified School District for Law Enforcement Services

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute retroactive Agreement [FJ1]with the Central Unified School District for law enforcement services effective August 9, 2017 through June 7, 2018 ($147,727); and
2. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2017-18 appropriations and estimated revenues for Sheriff-Coroner Org 3111 in the amount of $8,364 (4/5 vote).
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with these actions. Approval of the recommended actions will provide continuation of law enforcement services to the Central Unified School District with the assignment of one Deputy Sheriff position during the school year. This item pertains to a location in District 3.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If your Board does not approve the recommended actions, the Sheriff-Coroner's Office would be required to discontinue providing these specified services to the Central Unified School District due to loss of funding and the subsequent elimination of one Deputy Sheriff position.

RETROACTIVE AGREEMENT:

This recommended agreement is retroactive due to Master Schedule of Fees (MSF) rates being approved and adopted by your Board on October 31, 2017, after the school year started for Central Unified School District. The signed agreement was received from Central Unified School District on December 22, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with these actions, which will provide $147,727 in revenue from the Central Unified School District for services provided by one Deputy Sheriff for up to 1,440 hours.

The amount of $55,745 will be provided in revenue for up to 576 hours at $96.78 per hour from August 9, 2017 through November 30, 2017 (based on the FY 2016-17 rates as approved by your Board on May 24, 2016). ...
