SUBJECT: Second Amendment to Agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. to provide security maintenance services

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute second Amendment to Agreement A-13-738 with Siemens Industry, Inc., effective March 6, 2018 with no change in the term to December 31, 2018, to increase the annual maximum by $196,000 to $246,000 for calendar year 2018 (January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018), for additional services within the Sheriff-Coroner Office's Jail Detention Facilities, increasing the agreement maximum for additional services to $546,000.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The current agreement (A-13-738) allows the County to request additional fire and life safety, security, Master Antenna Television and pneumatic systems maintenance and repair at various jail facilities up to $50,000 per calendar year. Approval of the recommended increase to $246,000 will allow the Sheriff-Coroner's Office to upgrade existing security systems at various jail facilities during calendar year 2018. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There is no viable alternative action. If the recommended action is not approved the existing security systems at the various jail facilities will not be upgraded to enhance the safety and security of officers, inmates and civilians.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The current annual maximum for additional services is $50,000; the requested increase of $196,000 to a total of $246,000 will be absorbed within the Sheriff-Coroner's 3111 FY 2017-18 adopted budget.
