SUBJECT: Resolution for Consolidation of the June 5, 2018 Statewide Primary Election

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt a Resolution approving election consolidation requests filed by the following entities for the June 5, 2018 Statewide Primary Election: City of Kingsburg, City of Parlier, and Laton Joint Unified School District.
REPORT
The above listed entities have called for elections on June 5, 2018, the date of the Statewide Primary Election, an established election date. Consolidation of elections for these entities will allow them to participate in the June 5, 2018 Statewide Primary Election. All entities will pay their pro-rata share of election costs. There will be no increase in net County cost associated with the recommended action. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There are no viable alternative actions. There is no basis for the denial of these consolidation requests for the June 5, 2018 Statewide Primary Election.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in net County cost associated with the recommended action. Consolidation will increase the overall cost of the election, which will be shared by all entities involved in the election. The total estimated consolidated cost of the June 5, 2018 Statewide Primary Election is $2,237,956 with anticipated offsetting revenues of $223,795 (10%). The 10% revenue offset is equal to the offset budgeted in the FY 2017-18 Adopted Budget Org 2850. The Department continues to monitor the budget closely and anticipates being within budget on June 30, 2018.
