RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt resolution abolishing the Fresno County National Guard Commission.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The Board of Supervisors created the Fresno County National Guard Commission by Resolution No. 82-392 dated September 28, 1982. The Commission has not met in a number of years and there are currently no members appointed to the Commission Board.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved, your Board has the option to maintain the Fresno County National Guard Commission. This would require your Board to appoint five at-large members to the Fresno County National Guard Commission Board.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action.

DISCUSSION:

The Board of Supervisors created the Fresno County National Guard Commission by Resolution No. 82-392 dated September 28, 1982. The Commission was created to act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors in promoting, aiding and encouraging public support to and recruitment for the National Guard, and aiding, encouraging and assisting in disseminating information to the public relative to the community's responsibility in supporting and promoting the National Guard.

The Fresno County National Guard Commission was to prepare and submit an annual report summarizing the Commission's activities/accomplishments to the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors received the 1985 Annual Report of the National Guard Commission on June 3, 1986; no other reports have been issued since. In addition, the Commission has not met in a number of years and there are currently no members appointed to the Commission Board.
