SUBJECT:                     Statement of Vote for November 6, 2018 Consolidated Statewide General Election

 

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Accept the Certified Statement of Vote for the November 6, 2018 Consolidated Statewide General Election.

REPORT

The November 6, 2018 Consolidated Statewide General Election was certified to the California Secretary of State on December 4, 2018.  Pursuant to Elections Code §§ 15302(h) and 15372 the County Clerk is to report the final results (Certified Statement of Votes Cast) to the Board of Supervisors and the Secretary of State upon completion of Official Canvass. This item is countywide.

 

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

 

There is no viable alternative action.  Elections Code §§ 15302(h) and 15372 require the County Clerk to report final election results to the Board of Supervisors.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

Section 15302 et. seq. of the California Elections Code requires an official canvass and report of the final election results to the governing board and the Secretary of State.

 

The County Clerk has successfully completed this process and placed the Certified Statement of Vote on file with the Clerk of the Board on December 4, 2018.  In accordance with Elections Code §15400, the Board shall declare elected or nominated to each office voted on at the election under its jurisdiction the person having the highest number of votes for that office.  The Board shall also declare the results of each election under its jurisdiction as to each measure voted on at the election.

 

The certified statement of election results shall be posted on the County Clerk’s Internet Web site, as required by California Elections Code §15372.
