SUBJECT:                     Budget Resolution - County Service Area 35J

 

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):

TITLE

Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2018-19 appropriations for County Service Area No. 35 - Zone J Org 9182 in the amount of $6,000 from General Reserves Fund 0220 due to higher than expected cost related to road shoulder repairs that required tree trimming (4/5 vote).

REPORT

Approval of the recommended action will fund the unanticipated costs related to road shoulder repairs in County Service Area No. 35 - Zone J. This item pertains to a location in District 5.

 

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

 

There is no viable alternative action.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. All costs associated with the road shoulder repairs, which required tree trimming, are paid for by the benefitted properties within County Service Area No. 35 - Zone J (CSA 35J) from property assessments. The proposed budget resolution will increase appropriations using CSA 35J Fund 0220 general reserves by $6,000 in CSA 35J Org 9182 in the FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget to fund the tree trimming and road shoulder repairs.

 

DISCUSSION:

 

CSA 35J was formed on July 11, 1989, to provide road repair and maintenance to the Squaw Valley Ranchos, Tract No. 2175. CSA 35J contains 45 parcels and 1.51 miles of road.

 

As part of CSA 35J’s scheduled maintenance, the Department of Public Works and Planning repaired road shoulders on October 10, 2018. Cost exceeded the budgeted amount because Department staff needed to trim trees in order to gain access to the shoulder.   

 

With your Board’s approval of the recommended action, CSA 35J’s appropriations will increase by $6,000 using CSA 35J Fund 0220 general reserves.  CSA 35J’s total appropriations will increase to $19,540.
