DATE: March 12, 2019
TO: Board of Supervisors
SUBMITTED BY: Robert W. Bash, Director, Internal Services/Chief Information Officer
SUBJECT: First Amendment to Agreement with Orkin Services of California, Inc.
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute First Amendment to Agreement No. 14-269 with Orkin Services of California, Inc. for pest control services for properties owned, occupied, leased or otherwise operated by the County, effective upon execution with no change in term to May 20, 2019 and increasing the maximum compensation amount by $25,000, for a total potential 5-year cost not to exceed $472,905.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the Internal Services Department - Facility Services Division (ISD - Facility Services) to fulfill an increased demand for pest control services for properties owned, occupied, leased or otherwise operated by the County. The recommended amendment will also remove the yearly limitation of amounts payable for services. This Agreement expires on May 20, 2019. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Should your Board not approve the recommended action, ISD - Facility Services may be unable to fulfill departmental work requests for pest control services for properties owned, occupied, leased or otherwise operated by the County.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. All costs associated with these services are recovered through charges to user departments. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Facility Services Org 8935 FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION:
On May 20, 2014, the Board executed Agreement No. 14-269 with Orkin Services of California, Inc. for pest control services for County occupied facilities. Approval of the recommended action will remove the yearly limitation of amounts payable for services, and will increase the potential 5-year maximum compensation amount by $25,000, to a total of $472,905. The recommended amendment will allow ISD - Facility Services to fulfill the continued increase in work requests by County departments for pest control services for properties owned, occupied, leased or otherwise operated by the County, and ISD - Facility Services will have more flexibility in allocating and spending funds throughout the remaining term of the Agreement. All other terms of the Agreement remain unchanged.
ISD - Purchasing released a Request for Proposal (RFP) on February 1, 2019 for the procurement of pest control services, as the current agreement expires on May 20, 2019.
