SUBJECT: Retroactive Amended Base Award with the California Department of Public Health

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a retroactive Amended Base Award to Agreement No. 18-555 with the California Department of Public Health for tuberculosis prevention and control activities, effective July 1, 2018 with no change in term to June 30, 2019 and increasing the maximum by $20,720 to a total of $311,718.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will increase tuberculosis (TB) control funding from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) by 7% for FY 2018-19. The additional funds will be used to procure equipment and supplies to improve treatment compliance for TB patients. The activities are funded with State and Federal funding and the indirect costs will be recovered with Health Realignment, with no Net County Cost. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If your Board does not approve the recommended action, the Department of Public Health would be unable to enhance program activities using CDPH TB control funding.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended Amended Base Award will increase the TB Control Local Assistance Base Award of $290,998 by 7% or $20,720 bringing the total Base Award to $311,718. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department's Org 5620 FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget. The award includes full reimbursement for direct costs and the Department will cover indirect cost of 25.42% ($60,756) with Health Realignment.

RETROACTIVE AGREEMENT:

The recommended retroactive Amended Base Award was received from CDPH on December 21, 2018, and is retroactive to July 1, 2018. The TB Amended Budget was approved by the State on February 15, 2019.
