SUBJECT: Landscaping and Weed Control Services for Various Special Districts

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Agreement with Enviroscape, a sole proprietorship, for landscape maintenance and weed control services for various Special Districts, effective upon execution, not to exceed five consecutive years, which includes a three-year base contract and two optional one-year extensions, total not to exceed $300,000.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the Department of Public Works and Planning to contract with Enviroscape Inc. to provide landscape maintenance and weed control services to various Special Districts. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Not approving the recommended action would result in the inability to provide landscape and weed control services to the benefitted Special Districts.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The annual maximum compensation is $60,000; $300,000 for the five-year term. All costs associated with landscaping are paid by the benefitted properties within each Special District. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues have been budgeted in each benefitting Special District for FY 2019-20.

DISCUSSION:

Special Districts serve an excess of 30,000 residents throughout the unincorporated area of Fresno County. Services provided include one or more of the following: community water, community sewer, street lighting, snow removal, storm drainage, structural fire protection, first responder medical services, landscaping, refuse collection, park maintenance, wetlands monitoring, open space maintenance, and road maintenance.
