SUBJECT: Salary Resolution Amendment - Sheriff and District Attorney Offices

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve amendment to the Salary Resolution deleting one vacant Office Assistant I/II/III position and adding a Crime Analyst I/II/III classification with one allocated position to Sheriff Org 3111, effective October 21, 2019 as reflected in Appendix D; and
2. Approve amendment to the Salary Resolution deleting one vacant Investigative Technician position and adding a Crime Analyst I/II/III classification with one allocated position to District Attorney Org 2860, effective October 21, 2019 as reflected in Appendix D.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The recommended Salary Resolution amendments will add two Crime Analyst I/II/III positions, one for the Sheriff's Office and one for the District Attorney's Office to address departmental needs. Both departments will offset the increases with the deletion of a position resulting in no changes to the total number of positions. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

The Board may leave the staffing level as it is currently. However, this will negatively impact the Sheriff Department's ability to address the staffing needs for the Sheriff's Administrative Operations and the Sheriff's Patrol Unit. Additionally, this will impact the ability of the District Attorney's Office to be more effective at investigating and prosecuting criminal cases.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The additional cost of the Crime Analyst for the Sheriff is $16,326 for the remainder of the fiscal year.
