SUBJECT: Communication Antenna Space Lease Agreement with the City of Fresno
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a five (5) year Lease Agreement with the City of Fresno for communication antenna space atop the Fresno County Plaza Building, effective July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2025, with five automatic annual renewals, ending June 30, 2030 (4/5 Vote).
REPORT
The recommended action will lease antenna space atop the County Plaza Building to the City of Fresno - Waste Water Division, for data communications. The space occupied by the City's communication antennas and equipment is not currently needed for the County's use. The City will maintain its antenna and communication equipment at no cost to the County. In compliance with Government Code ? 25365, public notice of this proposed action was published in a local newspaper of general circulation at least one week prior to this proposed action. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended Lease Agreement is not approved, the City of Fresno will be required to remove, and reinstall their antenna at another location, and the County will forego $48,265 in rent over the next 10 years.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no County cost associated with the recommended action. The City of Fresno will pay rent to the County in the amount of $4,020 per year beginning July 1, 2020, and the rent will increase 4% each July 1 thereafter. The funds will be deposited into Countywide Revenues Org 0415, Account 3404.
DISCUSSION:
The approval of the recommended action will allow the City of Fresno (City) to maintain its communication antennas and equipment, to improve the communications of the City's Waste Water Division.
