RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute Amendment I to Agreement No. 19-271 with the Veterans Memorial Museum for the continued promotion, improvement, operation and maintenance of the Museum, effective upon execution with no change in term to June 30, 2020 and increasing the maximum by $6,000 to a total of $26,000.
2. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute Amendment I to Agreement No. 18-538 with the Fresno City/County Historical Society for operation and maintenance of the Kearney Mansion Museum Complex, effective upon execution with no change in term to September 30, 2028 and increasing the maximum by $6,000 to a total of $199,250.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended actions will amend agreements with the Veterans Memorial Museum and the Fresno City/County Historical Society to increase the FY2019-20 County contribution to each organization by $6,000.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may opt to not approve the recommended actions or approve different contribution amounts.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended actions. The total increase ($12,000) for both agreements will be fully funded by contributions from Districts 1, 4 and 5. Sufficient appropriations are included in Orgs 01100101, 01100104 and 01100105 FY 2019-20 Adopted Budgets.
DISCUSSION:
On September 11, 2018, your Board approved an agreement to allow the Department of Public Works and Planning through the Fresno City/County Historical Society to continue development, enhancement and maintenance of the cultural, historical and social resources related to the Kearney Mansion Museum Complex.
On June 18, 2019, your Board approved an agreement with the Veterans Memorial Museum to allow the County to continue to honor Fresno County veterans and help preserve the County’s military history through partial funding of the Museum.
During County budget hearings in September, leaders from each organization approached your Board requesting additional contributions given recent increases in costs associated with maintaining the facilities. Your Board did not approve any increases. However, the Chairman stated he would contribute $2,000 to each organization utilizing District 5 funds. Following budget hearings, Districts 4 and 5 also offered to contribute $2,000 each to both organizations.
Approval of the recommended actions will amend the Veterans Memorial Museum and the Fresno Historical Society agreements to account for the increase in contributions to the organizations.
