REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the Internal Services Department, Fleet Services Division (Fleet) to add two Program Technician allocations to better respond to customer needs and streamline business practices. No new positions will be added to the existing 33 positions within Fleet. This item is countywide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board could choose to maintain the current position classification and group structure for Fleet. This option will limit increased position flexibility within Fleet.
FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of the recommended action will add two Program Technician allocations for a total potential cost increase of $8,040 if the allocations are filled at the new level, as per the remainder of FY 2019-20. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues to absorb the potential cost increase are included in the Internal Services Department, Fleet Services Org 8910 FY 2019-20 Adopted Budget, and will be included in future budget requests.
DISCUSSION:
Fleet Services provides for the maintenance and repair for approximately 1500 County vehicles and equipment, management of part supplies, and motor pool services. Fleet Services also provides service and management for 18 County refueling sites.
Fleet Services seeks to add allocations for two Program Technicians to provide more flexibility in assignment of duties to maximize program planning, full utilization and incorporation of fleet maintenance system program modules, and support for the implementation and refinement of the fleet management system customer interface.
Approval of the recommended action will allow for better business efficiency within the Fleet Services Division of the Internal Services Department.
