SUBJECT: Adopt a Resolution for Consolidation with the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt a Resolution approving election consolidation requests filed by the following entities for the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election:

City of Fresno
City of Selma
City of Reedley
City of Orange Cove
Central Unified School District
Clovis Unified School District
Fresno Unified School District
Parlier Unified School District
Washington Unified School District
Kingsburg Joint Union High School District
Merced Community College District
Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The above listed entities have called for elections on March 3, 2020, the date of the Presidential Primary Election, an established election date. Consolidation of elections for these entities will allow them to participate in the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election. All entities will be billed their pro-rata share of election costs. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There are no viable alternative actions. If the recommended action is not approved the requesting entities will not be able to participate in the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Consolidation will increase the overall cost of the election, which will be shared by all entities involved in the election. The total estimated consolidated cost of the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election is $2,871,981 with anticipated offsetting revenue of $459,517 (16%). Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department's Org 28500600 FY 2019-20 Recommended Budget.
