SUBJECT: Statement of Vote for March 3, 2020 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Accept the Certified Statement of Vote for the March 3, 2020 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election.
REPORT
The March 3, 2020 Consolidated Presidential Primary Election was certified on April 2, 2020. Pursuant to California Elections Code ?? 15302(h) and 15372 the County Clerk is to report the final results (Certified Statement of Votes Cast) to the Board of Supervisors upon completion of Official Canvass. This item is County Wide.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
There is no viable alternative action. California Elections Code ?? 15302(h) and 15372 requires the County Clerk to report final election results to the Board of Supervisors.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action.
DISCUSSION:
Section 15302 et. seq. of the California Elections Code requires an official canvass and report of the final election results to the governing board. The County Clerk has successfully completed this process and placed the Certified Statement of Vote on file with the Clerk to the Board. In accordance with California Elections Code Section 15400, the Board shall declare elected or nominated to each office voted on at the election under its jurisdiction the person having the highest number of votes for that office. The Board shall also declare the results of each election under its jurisdiction as to each measure voted on at the election.
The certified statement of election results shall be posted on the County Clerk's Internet Web site, as required by California Elections Code Section 15372.
