RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Retroactively approve and authorize the Chairman or his designee to complete the online designation of Supervisor Magsig as the County's voting delegate for the 2020 National Association of Counties Virtual Annual Business Meeting.
REPORT
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action, which will approve the designation of Supervisor Magsig as the County of Fresno's voting delegate at the National Association of Counties (NACo) Virtual Annual Business conference on July 20, 2020. The online designation was completed to meet submission requirements. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There is no viable alternative action. If the recommended action is not approved, the County of Fresno will not be able to participate in the association's annual election of officers and policy adoption.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The NACo calendar year (CY) 2020 dues of $18,421 were paid in January 2020. Dues for CY 2021 will be included in the FY 2020-21 Recommended Budget for Interest and Miscellaneous Expenditures Org 2540, which will be presented to your Board in September 2020.

DISCUSSION:

On May 16, 2017, your Board approved continued membership in NACo and membership dues have been paid annually. The NACo is the leading voice for all counties and ensures that California county priorities are at the top of the national agenda, including federal funding for COVID-19 related costs, local transportation, Secure Rural Schools, Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT), State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), and other issues impacting our county.
