SUBJECT: First Amendment to Student Intern Agreement No. 17-385 with the California State University, Fresno Foundation

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute the First Amendment to Agreement No. 17-385 with the California State University, Fresno Foundation, for student intern services, increasing the maximum amount of the contract by $100,000, to $180,000.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the Department of Public Works and Planning (Department) to continue to utilize the services of California State University, Fresno (CSUF) students as interns.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved, the Department will be unable to continue to retain the services of CSUF students as interns.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Sufficient appropriations are included in the FY 2020-21 Public Works and Planning Road Fund - Org 4510 and Development Services and Capital Projects Org 4360 recommended Budgets and will be included in future budgets during the term of the agreement.

DISCUSSION:

The Student Intern Agreement was approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 11, 2017, in order to allow the Department to use student interns to complete a wide variety of tasks to support the efforts of County staff. The agreement's initial three-year term has already been extended by one year by mutual agreement and may be extended one year after that for a total of five years. Due to the overwhelming success of the agreement, the initial amount of $80,000 is nearly exhausted. The addition of $100,000 will allow for the Agreement to be fully utilized through the remaining term.
