SUBJECT: First Amendment to Lease Agreement 20-091

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute First Amendment to Lease Agreement No. 20-091 with 380 Ashlan LLC, at 380 W. Ashlan, Clovis, CA 93612, to extend the term of the existing Agreement by four months from September 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022 with no change to the compensation maximum of $166,072,374.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will amend the current Lease and update the commencement date of the term from September 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022. This item pertains to a location in District 3.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Your Board could direct that the Lease Amendment not be approved. However, this would result in the Department of Social Services being obligated to make lease payments for a building where renovations have not been completed and the Department of Social Services has not taken possession of the building.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Adoption of the recommended amendment will extend the term of the agreement so renovations can be completed before commencement.

DISCUSSION:

The Department of Social Services' (DSS) Strategic Plan places emphasis on enhancing Department performance and improving client experience. A key component of the strategic plan is streamlining business and administrative functions to increase efficiency and operational effectiveness. Approval of the recommended Lease Amendment is essential for DSS to implement its Strategic Plan.
