DISCUSSION:

On January 20, 2021, Chairman Brandau sent a letter to Governor Newsom requesting additional doses of vaccine for Fresno County. The County’s current inflow of vaccines is approximately 14,000 per week. As the County works to complete Phase 1A, and begin vaccinating Phase 1B, which includes our farm workers and most essential workers, the County needs additional doses now to meet demand and the County’s distribution capacity. However, we are now required to scale back vaccination centers at a critical stage when we are also trying to plan for County residents to receive their second dose. Time is of the essence and the County is demanding the following:

As Soon As Possible - The County of Fresno is requesting an allocation of no less than 10,000 Pfizer doses and 20,000 Moderna doses per week.

Beginning the Week of March 1st - The County of Fresno is requesting an allocation of 20,000 Pfizer doses and 40,000 Moderna doses per week.

Additionally, the letter requests accountability and reporting for the Federal Pharmacy Partnership and Multi-County Entities to local Public Health departments to ensure transparency and better coordination.
