SUBJECT: City of Parlier's Special Municipal Election
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt a Resolution approving the City of Parlier's request for the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters department to conduct a Special Municipal Election on June 8, 2021.
REPORT
On March 4, 2021, the City of Parlier adopted Resolution No. 2021-11 calling for a Special Municipal Election on June 8, 2021 for Measure Q: City of Parlier's Special Parcel Tax for Public Safety Services. The City of Parlier is requesting for the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters department to conduct the Special Municipal Election on its behalf. This item pertains to a location in District 4.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
If the recommended action is not approved, it would be the responsibility of the City of Parlier to conduct their election.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The City of Parlier has agreed by resolution, to reimburse the County for all costs related to the conduct of the June 8, 2021, Special Municipal Election. The estimated cost to conduct this service for the City of Parlier is approximately $100,000.
DISCUSSION:
On March 4, 2021, the City of Parlier adopted Resolution 2021-11 calling for a Special Municipal Election for Measure Q: City of Parlier's Special Parcel Tax for Public Safety Services. The Special Municipal Election is a stand-alone election pursuant to California Elections Code ?? 9222 and 10201 and will be conducted per California Elections Code ? 4005(b). The City of Parlier requests for the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters department to conduct the election and provide all necessary services for the election.
