SUBJECT: Accept Drought Grant Funding from the State of California Department of Water Resources for WWD 40 - Shaver Springs
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Sitting as the Board of Directors of Waterworks District No. 40:
1. Retroactively approve and authorize the Department of Public Works and Planning's previous submittal of a grant application to the State of California Department of Water Resources Small Community Drought Relief Program; and
2. Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Resolution authorizing the Director of the Department of Public Works and Planning to execute a funding agreement in the amount of $1,202,000, with the State of California Department of Water Resources, subject to review and approval by County Counsel and the Auditor-Controller/Treasure-Tax Collector; and
3. Adopt Budget Resolution increasing FY 2023-24 appropriations and estimated revenues for Public Works and Planning Org 9360, in the amount of $1,202,000 (4/5 vote).
REPORT
To meet the grant filing deadline, the Department of Public Works and Planning (Department) submitted the Grant Application (Exhibit A) for Waterworks District 40 - Shaver Springs (WWD 40), on January 4, 2022 for the State of California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Small Community Drought Relief Program, contingent upon your Board's approval. DWR notified the Department on June 14, 2023, that the project for WWD 40 had been approved (Exhibit B). A finalized funding agreement from DWR is currently being drafted.
Approval of the first recommended action retroactively authorizes the submittal of the grant application to DWR.
