SUBJECT: Retroactive Amendment I to Agreement with the City of San Joaquin for Law Enforcement Services

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
TITLE
Approve and authorize Chairman to execute retroactive Amendment I to Agreement 15-371 with the City of San Joaquin to extend the term of the existing Agreement for law enforcement services by one year from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017 and increasing the contract maximum by $85,706 to a total of $182,566.
REPORT
There is no additional Net County Cost associated with this action, which will allow the Sheriff-Coroner to continue providing an additional thirty hours per week of patrol services and coverage of events such as football games, festivals or other activities for the City of San Joaquin.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION:

Non-approval of the recommended action will result in the loss of revenue to the Sheriff-Coroner's Office and services to the City of San Joaquin.

RETROACTIVE AGREEMENT:

This recommended agreement is retroactive to July 1, 2016 due to a delay in obtaining approval from the City of San Joaquin which was received on June 14, 2016.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with this action. The recommended agreement will provide $85,706 in revenue from the City of San Joaquin in overtime provided by a Deputy Sheriff for up to 1,560 hours at $54.94 per hour. On May 24, your Board chose to keep the Master Schedule of Fees rate at the same level as the FY 2015-16 rates.

The Net County Cost associated with this agreement is $5,257, which represents the difference between FY 2016-17 actual costs at the overtime rate for one Deputy Sheriff ($90,963) and the costs recovered from the City of San Joaquin ($85,706) at the FY 2015-16 rate that was recommended by the Sheriff and approved by your Board as noted earlier.
