RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Award Contract No. 16-02-C, ADA Path on Grove Avenue and Jensen Avenue, to the bidder with the lowest responsive bid, Seal Rite Paving & Grading, 4237 W Swift Ave, Fresno, CA 93722, in the total amount of $257,843.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will authorize the award of a federally funded Active Transportation Program (ATP) project.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the recommended action is not approved, it will result in cancellation of the project and de-obligation of the allocated Federal funding. Any funds received by the County for this project to date would require reimbursement to the Federal Highway Administration from the Road Fund.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There will be no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The anticipated construction cost of the project, based on the low bid and including an allowance for contingencies, is $270,735. The project is funded through the ATP which will provide approximately 90% of the funding for contract construction. The County's share of the local match, estimated to be $23,735, will be paid out of the Road Fund and is included in the FY 2016-17 Public Works and Planning - Roads Org 4510 Adopted Budget.

DISCUSSION:

The work to be done, in general, consists of constructing new and/or retrofitting/replacing existing curb ramps, sidewalks, driveway approaches, and alley approaches to provide an ADA compliant path of travel on Grove Avenue between 9th Street and Cedar Avenue and on Jensen Avenue between Pullman Avenue and Cedar Avenue, in the Community of Calwa.
