SUBJECT: Agreement with Alliant International University for Research and Grant-Writing Opportunities for Students

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Agreement with Alliant International University, for research and grant-writing opportunities for its students, effective upon execution, not to exceed five consecutive years, which includes a three-year base contract and two optional one-year extensions ($0)
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow clinical psychology doctoral students currently enrolled in Alliant International University's (University) research practicum to collaborate in research projects and grant-writing opportunities with the Department of Behavioral Health with no Net County Cost. Participation will be completed without monetary compensation and the recommended agreement will allow the students to be supervised by the University.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Should your Board not approve the recommended action, the County will not benefit from or receive assistance with research and grant-writing projects. Additionally, the County will not benefit from the opportunity to engage students that may return as future employees.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action or monetary compensation under the recommended agreement. The students will be supervised by the University and assigned to research projects and grant-writing opportunities, as available.

DISCUSSION:

Alliant International University is a regionally-accredited university.
