SUBJECT: Resolution accepting non-monetary donation from Southern California Library Cooperative

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the non-monetary donation of a mental health book collection valued at $2,227 to the Fresno County Public Library from the Southern California Library Cooperative.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended action is required to satisfy reporting requirements under Chapter 762.12 of the CAO Management Directives for donations greater than $500 in value. Approval of the recommended action will allow the Fresno County Public Library to accept the donation of a mental health book collection valued at $2,227 from the Southern California Library Cooperative. The collection is for the use of library customers, staff, and also a librarian that is certified as an instructor in Mental Health First Aid training to provide instruction to library staff and community partners on how to work with individuals affected by mental illness.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

Your Board may choose to not accept the donation.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The non-monetary donation of mental health books valued at $2,227 will support Library programs in current and future fiscal years. The Library will provide Mental Health First Aid training to library staff and community partners with an annual in-kind contribution of $1,530. The in-kind contribution covers a percentage of the salary and benefits for one Librarian I with indirect costs calculated at 10%. The Library's salary, benefits, and overhead costs are part of the Library's FY 2016-17 Org 7511 Adopted Budget and are funded through Measure B revenue.
