SUBJECT: Resolution accepting non-monetary donation from the National Book Foundation
RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Adopt Resolution accepting and expressing gratitude for the non-monetary donation of assorted children's books valued at $2,250 to the Library from the National Book Foundation.
REPORT
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The recommended action is required to satisfy reporting requirements under Chapter 762.12 of the CAO Management Directives for donations greater than $500 in value. Approval of the recommended action will allow the Library to accept a donation of 1,500 assorted children's books valued at $2,250 from the National Book Foundation. The books are required to be distributed to children and families living in public housing as part of the Book-Rich Environment (BRE) Initiative. The books will be distributed at literacy events co-hosted by the Library and the Fresno Housing Authority in FY 2016-17 and FY 2017-18.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):
Your Board may choose to not accept the donation. If the donation is not accepted, the Library will not distribute books to children and families living in public housing.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. Upon approval, the non-monetary donation of children's books valued at $2,250 will be accepted to support Library Community Services programs in current and future fiscal years. The library will distribute the books free of charge to children and families. The Library will make an in-kind contribution of $482 for the period of March 1, 2017 to June 30, 2017, and an in-kind contribution of $964 for the period of July 1, 2017 to November 30, 2017.
