SUBJECT: Memorandum of Understanding with the California Health Sciences University, College of Pharmacy

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the California Health Sciences University, College of Pharmacy for pharmaceutical consultation services and student clinical field experience, effective upon execution, not to exceed five consecutive years, which includes a three-year base contract and two optional one-year extensions, total not to exceed $40,000.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended actions will allow students enrolled in the Doctorate of Pharmacy program at the California Health Sciences University, College of Pharmacy clinical field experience at the Departments of Behavioral Health (DBH) and Public Health (DPH). The College of Pharmacy will also provide on-site pharmaceutical consultation services at the Kings Canyon Campus to assist medical and clinical staff with pharmacy medication management services. The recommended MOU includes compensation to fund the on-site medication consultation services, financed with Mental Health Realignment funds, with no Net County Cost.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the Board does not approve the recommended action, the Departments will not receive added pharmacy on-site medication consultation services and College of Pharmacy students will not receive clinical field experience at County facilities.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The maximum cost of the pharmacy consultation services in FY 2016-17 is $2,000; $40,000 for the term.
