RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Agreement with California State University, Fresno Foundation through its Central Valley Health Policy Institute, for comprehensive evaluation of nutrition education and obesity prevention services, effective upon execution through September 29, 2023, not to exceed four-years seven-months, which includes a two-year seven-month base contract with two optional one-year extensions, total not to exceed $540,000.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended action will allow the Department of Public Health to continue required evaluation of Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (NEOP) program activities through California State University, (CSU) Fresno Foundation, Central Valley Health Policy Institute (CVHPI). The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) NEOP grant will fund the recommended agreement, with no Net County Cost. This item is countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

There is no viable alternative action. Should your Board not approve the recommended action, the Department would be unable to fulfill required evaluation services under revenue Agreement No. 16-589 with CDPH.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. The initial seven months and annual maximum cost thereafter is $108,000; $540,000 for the term. In the first seven months, CVHPI will assist in the development and implementation of the 2020-2022 NEOP grant scope of work and evaluation services. The NEOP grant, provided by CDPH, will fully fund the recommended agreement. Sufficient appropriations and estimated revenues are included in the Department's Org 5620 FY 2018-19 Adopted Budget, and will be included in subsequent fiscal year budget requests.
