SUBJECT: Award Contract 21-S-01, Fresno County Sheriff Substation Bid Package 2

RECOMMENDED ACTION(S):
TITLE
1. Adopt Plans and Specifications for Contract 21-S-01 Fresno County Sheriff Substation Bid Package 2, and award to the low bidder, BMY Construction Group, Inc., 2485 East Olive Avenue, Fresno CA 93727, including the base bid and all the additive bids, in the total amount of $2,465,000; and

2. Authorize the Chairman to execute Contract Change Orders in excess of the Director's authority, up to 10% of the construction contract total, in the amount of $246,500, increasing the contract maximum to $2,711,500.
REPORT
Approval of the recommended actions will authorize the construction of Phase 2 of the Area 2 Sheriff Substation project. This item pertains to a location in District 5, the impact of which will be countywide.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION(S):

If the first recommended action is not approved, construction of Phase 2 will be delayed. If the second recommended action is not approved, or approved for a lesser amount, the Department may return to your Board for approval of individual change orders, which could result in project delays.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no increase in Net County Cost associated with the recommended action. It is anticipated that the contract construction cost for the project will not exceed $2,711,500. This includes the Director's allowance to sign Change Orders up to $135,750 (approximately 5.5% of the contract amount) while the Chairman will have authority, if that amount is exceeded, to sign subsequent change orders up to $246,500 (between 5.5% and 10% of the contract amount). Sufficient funds to cover the cost of construction are included in the Public Works and Planning Capital Projects Org 8853 Program 91285 FY 2021-22 Adopted Budget.
